Together with Rupert Wegerif (University of Exeter) I hve been awarded funding for the prestigious EARLI Advanced Study Colloquium 2013 from the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI).

FRANCQUI INTERNATIONAL PROFESSORSHIP AWARD
In 2010 I was awarded the Francqui International Professorship by the Francqui Foundation, Belgium, for my work in the domain of civic learning and citizenship education. The activities took place from February - July 2011 at the University of Ghent, Department of Social Welfare Studies. At the occasion of the inaugural lecture I also received the 'Grote Medaille' of the University of Ghent (see here). For more information about the Francqui Foundation click here. Previous recipients of the Francqui International Professorship include Paul Ricoeur (1970), Edward Schillebeeckx (1973), Michel Foucault (1980), Edgar Morin (1982), and Donald Davidson (1994).

NEW JOURNAL: The start up of Other Education: The Journal of Educational Alternatives, is going well. The inaugural issue will appear in September 2012 with exciting contributions from members of the editorial board. We will move to 2 issues per year from 2013 onwards and are looking for manuscripts that deal with all dimensions of educational alternatives. THEORYLAB CONFERENCE: The Second International Theorising Education Conference will be held in Stirling from 7-9 June 2012. Please click here for the conference website where you can download the full programme.
